Book review: A Court Of Thorns And Roses.

A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas. An epic Fantasy story about Feyre, a human girl who lives with her two sisters and her father in a cottage. Feyre hunts in the forest to survive but one day she kills a magical creature. She must pay the price for her deed and gets imprisoned in an enchanted court. A retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but with faeries.

I wanted to like this book. I really did. And I tried. Sarah J. Maas is an amazing author, Throne of Glass was like, really really good so I guess I had my hopes up too high. It was good, but I never really felt like I was making progress in the story and it was all so boring and slow passing. (Except for the beginning. The beginning was like straight to the point.)

I absolutely love how Sarah J. Maas describes the world her characters live in. In ACOTAR is this amazingly done and I didn’t have a hard time picturing the scenes. It wasn’t boring to read, what can easily happen in Fantasy books, it was done just like it should be. Not too detailed but enough to picture a beautiful world.

The characters in this book were ok. I didn’t hate them, but I didn’t love them either. I felt really distant from the characters. I couldn’t relate to them and I didn’t really feel anything for them (if you know what I mean.). Feyre wasn’t the typical YA main character, which is why I liked her, but that’s all. I did love Lucien though. He was sarcastic, bright and exactly the character you need when things get too serious. I actually secretly hoped Feyre and Lucien would end up being together but I guess that won’t happen.

It was a good, but not great read. Will I read the second book? Probably not. I may change my mind and give the trilogy a second chance but for now I’ll just stick with her other series.
